Atelier is based on the French word for the studio in a fashion house where garments are cut and put-together, which explains the club's references to all things chic and in vogue. Atelier was the brain child of Coco Latté promoter Nicholas Chrisostomou (aka Lady Latté). Launched at The End nightclub, it played host to many big name celebrities including Janet Jackson, Alexander McQueen, Rupert Everett, Patrick Cox and Tom Ford. There would always be a TV personality or pop star or fashion designer at Atelier. One week Dominico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana dropped by, and another night Robbie Williams was spotted waiting patiently in the queue outside to get in. The Atelier concept was launched to treat people as guests and individuals, rather than just bodies, and to offer the London scene a fresh upmarket clubbing environment. Rewarding customers for supporting the club by giving them stuff back - like free CDs on the club's birthday, or a glass of Champagne upon arrival. |
