Heaven opened in December 1979 in the arches beneath Charing Cross railway station, once part of the Adelphi Arches, a large wine-cellar for the hotel above. Heaven quickly established itself as the centre of London nightlife.

In 1993, Heaven was acquired from by Richard Branson's Virgin Group.

Having always had a strong brand image, Heaven strove to break ground every week with challenging and ground breaking ad campaigns.
